Poly cotton inflatable tents, are they worth the extra cost, we think so and this is why...
What is it we want these days from a family camping tent, well ease of pitching has to be high on the list and that is where inflatable tents come in. When you turn up at your tent pitch the last thing you want to be thinking about is who's going to look after the kids while we pitch the tent or "do I really have to go through this again". Well with inflatable tents one adult should be able to pitch the largest of inflatable tents by themselves. You peg the corners, open the doors, inflate the middle beam (20 sec normally) and then work your way out to the back and the front one beam at a time, then shut the doors and finish the pegging and guying out of the tent, thats how simple it is.
So now we get to why are poly cotton inflatable tents worth the extra cost. Well the lifetime of your tent should be taken into account when making your purchase. A basic 70 denier polyester tent will be affected by the suns UV rays withing a few months and could be ready for the bin within 3 to 4 month of summer camping. There are higher denier polyester tents with a 150D polyester, even 210D or higher and some even have a UV protection treatment to the fabric which will make the tent last much longer BUT... Polyester tents will always be far hotter inside in the summer sun and colder in the early or late parts of the camping season. Polyester tents will always be prone to condensation which can be confused for leaking.
Poly cotton inflatable tents tend to last far far longer than even the best polyester tents, its the nature of the fabric, the feel is so much nicer and when the wind blows poly cotton tents in general are very quiet in comparison to polyester tents. If you invest in a poly cotton inflatable tent you will find they are heavy but again the pitching is easy due to the same system as above. You will feel much cooler in a poly cotton tent in hot weather due to how breathable the fabric is, it acts as an insulation so the tent will be far warmer in the cold also, its a kind of magic. You may still suffer from a touch of condensation in certain weather conditions but overall the feel inside the tent will be far more comfortable. There are many advantages to owning a poly cotton inflatable tent so if the funds allow you should go for it, you won't regret it.
